Guidelines for Taraweeh Prayers 1445/2024:

✅ Children are allowed to come to the Taraaweeh prayer regardless of their age.

✅ Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by their guardian at all times and maintain masjid etiquettes.

✅ Single parents whose child is praying in a different section due to their gender must notify the volunteers regarding their child.

✳️ Sisters with small children will be requested to take the child to the adjacent room to calm  the child down and rejoin salah. NO PRAYER in that room.

❌ Do not bring any food or drink for Taraaweeh Prayers. Only water is allowed.

♻️ Please take your empty water bottles home.

💯 The volunteers are giving up their valuable time to facilitate your worship. Please treat them with respect and courtesy and follow any instructions.

🚗 Please be respectful to our neighbours. Do not park on private property, in front of resident driveways, or in front of dropped curbs.

☪️ We’re trying our best to be inclusive and to cater to everyone’s needs. For safeguarding reasons, children or individuals posing a significant risk to themselves and others will be asked to leave the masjid (with the parents in case of children).

🤲 May Allah give us the ability to do the best we can and grant us salvation by accepting all our worship!

Zakat Al Fitr

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made Zakat al-Fitr, one saa’ of dates or one saa’ of barley, obligatory on the Muslims, male and female, young and old. The man has to pay on behalf of himself and his wife, his children and parents if they are poor.  A saa’ is approximately equivalent to three kilograms of rice. The amount in sterling is £5 per person.

Fidiyyah

Fidiyyah is paid by those unable to fast in Ramadan due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, chronic illness, or old age. These categories of people DO NOT have to make up the missed fast. (opinion of Ibn Abbas and Ibn Umar radiyallahu anhuma) Such a person gives 1.5 kg of rice for each day of fasting they miss – this is equivalent to £3 per day, or £90 for the entire month.

Kafaarah

If one has sexual relations during the day in Ramadan, the Kafaarah is to fast for two consecutive months; whoever is not able to do so due to ill health or old age must feed sixty poor persons. This amounts to £180.

Masjid Donation

Every contribution you make to Luton Islamic Centre is a direct investment in the spiritual growth and well-being of our community. Your support enables us to continue providing essential services, educational programs, and maintaining our sacred space for worship. Your contribution, no matter the size, is a vital component in achieving our shared vision.

Zakat

Zakat is obligatory on every Muslim who fulfills the two conditions necessary for its payment.

1) Your wealth has to reach the nisaab - (the minimum amount of wealth that one must possess before the Zakat becomes obligatory).

2) You possess wealth above the nisaab, for a period of one lunar year. If both conditions are met then you are required to pay Zakat at the rate of 2.5%. The nisaab is the equivalent of 85 grammes of 24 carat gold. (£4,598 as of 7 March 2024)
